THE CAL ALUMNI CLUB OF OAKMONT (Sonoma County)

The Cal Alumni Club of Oakmont was formed in 1984.  The membership continues to grow, and
currently there are over 150 dues paying member households primarily in Oakmont, but in other
areas as well including the Valley of the Moon.  The club recognizes alumni, spouses, significant
others, as well as "friends of Cal" many of whom have attended the University.

Through fundraising projects, club members actively support two California Alumni Association
scholarships for Sonoma County students entering the University each year.  They are the Alumni
Scholarship Fund which focuses on leadership qualities, and The Achievement Award Program
(TAAP).  The funds donated by the Oakmont Club currently total over $100,000.  Club representatives
also participate by interviewing Sonoma County scholarship applicants.

In addition, the Cal Alumni club awards three $1500 scholarships to students transferring from Santa
Rosa Junior College to U. C. Berkeley each year.

In the past, fund raising events have also been held for the Cal Band and Cal Band scholarships.
The Cal Band as well as Cal’s Straw Hat Band have performed at Oakmont.

Among the many activities, the Cal Alumni Club of Oakmont annually holds a Spring and Fall dinner
with guest speakers from the University; a Labor Day Picnic; and both a Pass the Axe Party and a Big
Game Party with local Stanford alumni from Oakmont and the Valley of the Moon in Sonoma County.

Informal monthly dinners are held for members of the Cal Alumni club at the Wild Oak Saddle Club in
Oakmont.  These dinners are held on the third Thursday of each month, except during November
and December.
